A delightfully pretty Art Deco Czech dragons breath pink opal set in a halo of crystals. This brooch is nearly 100 years old and still in super condition with all stones in place. Dragon's Breath is the name given to a rare and highly collected man-made glass stone that was used in jewellery making around the early 1900's. You will find the stones in vintage costume settings as many jewellery makers used the stone The history of Bohemian and Czech glass jewellery is interesting and details that the production of jewellery ceased at the beginning of WWII indicating that the vintage and antique descriptions are absolutely genuine . Czechoslovakia became a country in 1918 absorbing Bohemia, which was well known for its quality glass, garnets and beads. The Bohemian glass works produced large quantities of stones and beads as well as complete jewellery which was exported between 1918 and 1939. During the war Czechoslovakia was occupied by the Germans, so the Czech jewellery you will find will be dated from before WWII.
